Radio 104.5 Summer Block Party // Philadelphia
Every summer, Philadelphia's Alternative music station, Radio 104.5, hosts a monthly concert series called the "Radio 104.5 Summer Block Party". The June block party was held at Festival Pier in Philadelphia where multiple bands came together to kick off the local outdoor concert season, including hometown band Foxtrot & the Get Down, Big Data, Misterwives, New Politics, and A Silent Film. The weather was beautiful and the party was going strong. The day was full of high spirits and energy and hosted bands who put their everything into their music and it certainly showed on the stage throughout the entire afternoon.

Alex Winston // At Schubas in Chicago
Alex Winston has been making the rounds and some noise for a while now, and I was recently able to (on very short notice, thanks to her killer PR folks) meet up with her in Chicago ahead of her packed headline show at Schubas. You can currently catch up with Alex on her website (iamalexwinston.com), as well as supporting her new Pledge Music campaign (pledgemusic.com/projects/alexwinston) that includes some unique opportunities. (My favourite is the gorgeous pink signed 7" of 'Careless).
Governors Ball Music Festival 2015 // NYC
Music Festivals in NYC have historically been a flop, sometimes even cancelled before they have a chance to flop. Poor weather conditions, low ticket sales, lack of wide open spaces to handle the crowds are all contributing factors.
Fortunately Governors Ball Music Festival on NYC’s Randall’s Island is one festival that seems to have survived, and thrived against all odds (we will not soon forget Mud Ball 2013). Not only has it thrived, but it was even voted “Festival of Year” by Consequence of Sound in 2014.
I spent three great days on Randall Island to cover Governors Ball for Impose Magazine this year, and here are some of the best things I saw at Gov Ball 2015!

Kate Tempest // Live in Chicago
Kate Tempest has a way with words. She controls the English language in a way most of us only wish we could, with a stellar grasp of all things full of emotion and urgency. "More empathy, less greed." I feel quite privileged to have seen her recently, as well as being able to grab a few moments of her time for some portraits. Here's a little bit of that night at Chicago's Schubas. Massive thank you's to Kate, Alex, and her band, as well as Bela and everyone at Ninja Tune/Big Dada for being so incredible.

Royal Blood // Live in Chicago
It has to be said... sometimes you meet a band and you chat for the evening and part ways. Other times, you meet a band, and become part of the story, or they become part of yours, whichever way you prefer to look at it. Royal Blood came into my life via a friend who started working with them very early on, and since then, it's been nothing but laughs, and photos, and drinks, and crazy nights. I've enjoyed seeing their rise, and love to be able to call these two friends.
