The Jorja and Kali Tour @ Aragon Ballroom, Chicago

Chicago had waited for this tour. Jorja Smith and Kali Uchis together on The Jorja and Kali Tour. Merch lines were as long as the line that stretched around the block for fans to get into a very sold out Aragon Ballroom this past Tuesday. Our co-founder, Victoria Sanders, headed out to capture the night and sing along to Kali Uchis’ cover of Radiohead’s Creep with everyone else in the building. Scroll through our gallery to live the night with us, and if these ladies come to your town, it’s worth heading out to.

The Avett Brothers @ Bluestem Amphitheater, Moorhead, Minnesota

North Carolina Americana mainstays, the Avett Brothers stopped by the scenic Bluestem Amphitheater just outside Moorhead Minnesota for a sold out show May 16th, 2019. Having originally been scheduled for October of last year, but postponed due to inclimate weather, the show had a cloud of anticipation hanging over the crowd on the sunny Thursday evening.
From the moment the Avett Brothers stepped on stage, the band held the roughly 3000 fans in the palm of their hands, encouraging everyone to clap and sing along. Over the course of their 2 hour, early evening set the band drew from all corners of their discography, relying heavily on material from their "Emotionalism" and True Sadness albums, as wells as peppering in covers of "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" (sung acapella) and Jim Croce's "Operator (Not the Way It Feels)". The Avett Brothers wasted little time between songs other than sharing a few gracious words with the crowd. After a brief pause following the main set, the band returned to the stage for a 3 song encore of fan favorites "I and Love and You", "Live and Die", and "No Hard Feelings" with the sun fully setting as the last notes were played.
A band nearly 20 years into their career, the Avett Brothers remain at the top of their game, showing now signs of slowing down anytime soon. A compelling, emotional, and down right fun live show make the Avett Brothers a must see for anyone who loves live music. And if you can manage to see them outdoors on a sunny but slightly cool early summer evening with the breeze on your skin, it’s all the more magic!

This Friday was an extremely special one for me. I saw one of my favorite bands for the sixth time in the place I first saw and fell in love with their music when they opened up for The 1975 back in May of 2014. And now they’re headlining and selling out.
This was their biggest sold out show ever, and I am INCREDIBLY PROUD. These guys deserve every ounce of success and I’m so happy I’ve gotten to watch them continue to grow and succeed. Every time I’ve had the chance to see Bad Suns live, they were better than the last, and they’re only going to keep getting better and I’m happy that I get to continue to see them thrive.
They put one the best show, and are so good with drawing the crowd in and engaging with them, especially when Christo goes into the audience for a couple of songs. I always recommend catching a Bad Suns show, because they’re nothing short of incredible!
I had never seen or had the chance to listen to Carlie Hanson, but after seeing her open up for Bad Suns Friday night, she definitely gained a fan in me! She was SO energetic and such a firecracker on that stage, and was a pro in drawing the crowd (including me) in. I’d recommend seeing both of these incredible artists on the “Mystic Truth” tour if they’re stopping by anywhere near you! You will not regret it.
