On the eve of the largest snowstorm to hit Philadelphia since 1996, Del Water Gap took the stage to a packed house. DWG is no stranger to Philly, playing house shows since 2016, to a now sold-out show at The Fillmore. It was a joy getting to see Holden now playing his catalog to larger and larger audiences who embrace his unique songwriting. Opening the show was the equally great Hannah Jadagu.

In Boston, Jhariah stormed the Roadrunner stage with a level of energy that could ignite an entire festival lineup. Even before fans had fully settled in, he had transformed the venue into a frenzy of movement, color, and rapid-fire emotion.
Launching headfirst into “BIGSHOT,” Jhariah immediately set the tone: sharp, theatrical, and relentless. His trademark performance style—darting across the stage, punctuating every lyric with big expressive gestures—had the crowd locked in within seconds. Even fans who entered the room unfamiliar with his music were quickly swept into the current.
The momentum only built from there. “DEBT COLLECTOR” and “FIRE4FUN” hit with controlled chaos, each song twisting between genres mid-stride. Jhariah’s voice moved from snarls to soaring belts to precise staccato phrases, keeping the audience guessing where the next beat drop or emotional spike would land.
By the time he reached “RISK, RISK, RISK!”, the room was fully in his hands. The track—a frantic whirlwind of tension and catharsis—exploded live, with Jhariah pacing the edge of the stage like a ringmaster conducting his own circus.
Mid-set, he shifted the emotional gears with “Needed a Change of Pace,” offering something warmer and more melodic without losing the intensity. His ability to make explosive theatricality and vulnerability coexist is part of what makes his live performance so magnetic.
Closing the set, “Flight of the Crows” and “PIN-EYE” showcased the full scope of his artistry. “Flight of the Crows” came with sweeping dramatic movements and a sense of rising tension, while “PIN-EYE,” introduced with its haunting vocal arrangement, felt ritualistic and climactic. The choir-like opening washed over the room before the full band crashed in, ending the set with a cinematic final punch.
By the end, the audience was shouting, dancing, and fully energized.

Texas trio Little Image took the stage in Philly on November 23rd opening for The Academy Is… on their long-awaited return tour. I’ve been lucky enough to catch Little Image over the last several years on their tours through Philly, and I can safely say this was the best I’ve seen them yet. They never fail to deliver a tight electronic rock-infused set, encapsulating the raw lyrics, giving the taste of punk rock with the ease of dancable indie rock. Little Image finished the set with their latest single, “KILL THE GHOST”, which I’d rank as one of the coolest songs I’ve seen live this year. Can’t wait to see how these guys continue to grow their sound!

There’s something infectious about seeing almost monday live. The cold air was starting to roll in in Philly on Sunday, November 16th, but almost monday brought their sunny California vibes to The Fillmore to warm us all up. Offering a slew of their bops, it’s hard not to catch yourself dancing along to the trio and taking in frontman Dawson Daugherty's unique moves across the stage. Coming off the high of their biggest single to date this year, “can’t slow down”, excited to hear whatever next inevitably catchy tune is to come from almost monday. Be sure to catch almost monday opening for the remainder of The Band Camino’s US tour this month.

Liverpool trio The Wombats took the stage on the first chilly night of the season in Philadelphia. Joined by fellow UK bands, Red Rum Club and only the poets. The crowd slowly filled the venue as the bands took the stage, each bringing their own unique blend of rock and pop sounds, getting the crowd excited for The Wombats. Touring in support of their 6th studio album, Oh! The Ocean, The Wombats took the stage with a burst of energy amongst an oddly furry backdrop covering the stage. Throughout the night, the stage was visited by more wombat mascots, including a special guest cutout of our very own Phillie Phanatic. Every time you see The Wombats, you know you’re guaranteed to have a good time. Now with an extensive catalogue, the band has a lot of ground to cover, and they certainly were sure to include that in their setlist. If you missed them on this tour, don’t worry, they’re back in early 2026 to play more of the states.

Small Stage, Big Soul: Khruangbin’s Intimate Houston Nights at The Heights Theatre

Khruangbin always finds a way to make their hometown shows feel special. Just a few months ago, the band performed an intimate set at Cactus Records and a massive hometown show at The Woodlands Pavilion. This week, the Houston trio returned once again, this time for two sold-out nights at The Heights Theatre, an intimate 500-capacity venue. It was a rare chance to see them up close, in a space that could barely contain the crowd’s energy. From wall to wall, the room buzzed with anticipation; it was hard to breathe but impossible to leave.
Local legend DJ Sun opened the night, setting the tone with his signature blend of global grooves and Houston soul, a perfect prelude to the band’s eclectic sound. When Mark Speer, Laura Lee, and Donald “DJ” Johnson Jr. finally took the stage, they were met with joyous cheers that felt more like a family reunion than fandom.
Their hour-and-a-half set moved with effortless rhythm, blending psych-soul, funk, and slow-burn melodies that shimmered through the small room. Songs like “Maria También,” “White Gloves,” and “People Everywhere (Still Alive)” felt both familiar and new, filled with fresh energy and emotion.
There was no elaborate production, no spectacle, but just a moment of return. A decade into their journey, Khruangbin’s music continues to feel like home: rooted in the heart of Houston, timeless, and beautifully their own.

KWN brought her “With all due respect” sold-out tour to DC in support of her latest EP. The room was filled with excited fans, some of whom brought gifts to the singer, like a custom-made KWN hat, flowers and lego sets. KWN kicked off the show with her EP opener, “Bite me”, and thanked the crowd numerous times for coming out to support the tour. She emphasized how special it was to play in an intimate setting like this, hinting that bigger venues and multiple tour dates were in the future. During the song “Clothes Off”, she gave the mic to a fan to sing Kehlani’s verse. She even pointed out a fan who had been to four stops of her tour already. The fans knew every word, even to her unreleased material. KWN played her entire cataloge and it’s clear that her R&B stardom is just getting started. “I can’t believe this is my job, I’m never going back to a normal one!” KWN’s tour continues in North America before heading back overseas in November.

Viagra Boys Bring Raw Chaotic Honesty to Houston 10/30/2025 at White Oak Music Hall.
Viagra Boys brought The Infinite Anxiety Tour to White Oak Music Hall’s lawn on a beautiful fall night, filling the air with loud, gritty sounds and a contagious energy that felt as honest as it was chaotic. Blending punk attitude with pulsing synths, distorted basslines, and bursts of saxophone, the band turned the night into something raw and beautifully human.
Frontman Sebastian Murphy performed shirtless, dancing across the stage with a calm confidence. Between songs, he called the orange man a “fat f*** fascist”, drawing loud cheers from the Houston crowd. The moment was a shared honesty, unfiltered and without hesitation.
The audience sang along to favorites like Punk Rock Loser, Waterboy, and Sports, which Murphy introduced with an improvised song about Houston. New tracks from their latest album fit seamlessly with older ones, keeping the energy steady and unpredictable.
After the opener, Black Lips set the mood, Viagra Boys delivered what Houston didn’t know it needed: a night of beautiful chaos under the stars. It’s messy, loud, and completely alive.
