October 23rd 2026: Violet Grohl, Suzy Clue @ Star Theater - Portland, OR

Violet Grohl made a stop toward the end of her headlining portion of the Be Sweet to Me tour in Portland, Oregon, at the Star Theater, showcasing her album of the same name. The crowd varied in age, as curious old heads (meant endearingly) and younger generations were in the mix. With her, she brought Suzy Clue, who gave a sensual shoegaze performance that had an edgy but soft and feminine set that ended with a complimentary cover of Britney Spears.
Violet later took the stage with her band, who gave strong support and a well-produced sound on guitars, backup vocals, and drums throughout the night. At only 20, her presence was poised as if she had been doing this for years, and in some ways she has. Unsurprisingly, the 90s alternative influence shown through many songs provided a fresh sound but also a hit of nostalgia that could easily be the backdrop of a movie in the same era. The singer gripped the mic stand the entire night, fully immersed in the music while providing solid vocals. Even as the energy picked up in songs like Bug in the Cake, Grohl remained stoic, voice unwavering, with felt emotion.
