Aminé brought 13 Months of Sunshine to DC last night in support of his latest album. The show opened with Lido putting on a DJ set full of throwbacks and even some go-go for DC to get the crowd right. Aminé shortly hit the stage after kicking off the night with a vibrant LED-screened stage displaying cartoon visuals from his album. Aminé ran through the fan favorites of all his albums, keeping the energy high throughout the set. The running theme of the show was he would say "DC, you're beautiful", to which he asked the crowd to respond with, "I KNOW". Aminé's appreciation of the fans was special to see, down to him asking if he was pronouncing fan names correctly when he would engage with them. He also brought out his famous "tour pants", which are a pair of jeans he brings on every tour, and each tour stop gets its own pin that is sewn on the jeans, and he picks a fan to come on stage and sign the pin. It's a special tradition he does on every tour and shows his love of touring and fan memories. The energy of the show was light and fun, something we all needed here in DC. Aminé's Tour De Dance continues in the States before heading overseas in November.

The Neighbourhood returned to the stage for the first time in five years in support of their fifth studio album, Ultrasound. Touring back-to-back nights across the US before hitting internationally, the band has a packed schedule for the remainder of the year. The Anthem was filled with eagerly energetic fans as The Noise Dept (who later played with The Neighbourhood) opened the night, followed by After. The Neighbourhood hit the stage right on time at 9, after being introduced to the stage by an oddly placed Siri-like bot voice. Immediately jumping into two new tracks from Ultrasound. The songs ebbed and flowed with tracks from the band’s full catalogue, with not much to be said in between. Ending the night with no encore, the band finished with the obvious tracks everyone has been waiting to hear all night, “Sweater Weather” and “Softcore”. As a longtime fan of the band and this being the first time I got to actually see them live, I was not disappointed (aside from Stargazing missing from the setlist). Now is the prime time to catch The Neighbourhood.

Paramore played their biggest DC show to date Friday at Capital One Arena. It was a warm welcome since the last time the group came to the DMV area in 2018. Kicking the show off with the song "You First" from their new album "This is Why", it set the tone for a night of new music and old favorites from the band. The stage setup was incredible, with large screens giving fun visuals of Hayley and the band throughout the show. Mid-way through the show, drummer Zac Farro performed one of his singles from his group Halfnoise called "Baby". It was a night of fun, angst, and memories as Hayley expressed the group's appreciation of their fans for so many years. Another fun moment was when the group invited the first Gen Z congressman, Maxwell Frost to the stage to sing "Misery Business" along with a fan from the crowd. The show closed with their lead single "This is Why". The show felt so freeing and welcoming, it was like getting back together with old friends and not missing a beat. Paramore has gone through so many experiences as a band over the years and you could see the growth and maturity that was refreshingly exciting. They continue their North American tour through August 2 in Saint Paul, MN.

On June 21st, Los Angeles based band, Wallows, played their biggest show yet at The Anthem in Washington D.C. Starting with “Hard To Believe” the venue was filled with the sound of fans singing along. Their music from their new album “Tell Me That It’s Over” had an 80’s synth feel to it. Before finishing up the night they took a request from the crowd and played “I’m Full”. They ended the night dancing and singing along to their most popular track yet, “Are You Bored Yet?”.
