Miles Parks McCollum, better known as Lil Yachty, had a sold-out show at the Egyptian Room at Old National Centre in Indianapolis, IN on Sunday night during his Field Trip Tour. His DJ who goes by the name of ‘Anthony Somebody’, had the crowd fired up by playing both older and newer rap hits including “Meltdown” by Travis Scott and Drake, which Drake made a special appearance at Yachty’s Toronto show a few days prior.
Before he graced the stage, Lil Yachty had three openers which included rapper Stoop Lauren, The Concrete Family, and R&B singer Nick Hakim. All of which collectively kept the audience alive and enthusiastic until it was time for the main event.
Wearing Tomás Vokoun’s Nashville Predators Jersey, Lil Yachty took the stage opening with his song, “drive Me Crazy!”. Tensions were high and the energy of the crowd could be felt from the front to the back as Yachty also had an all-female band and choir backing him up. Performing hits such as Poland, Broccoli, iSpy, and Strike (Holster), fans sang along and rapped every single word as the show continued. With Lil Yachty only being about halfway through the North American portion of his tour, this is definitely a show you do not want to miss out on.

On Wednesday, August 30th, I had the pleasure of seeing 5 Seconds of Summer live and if you’ve never seen this band perform before, or heard of the names, “Luke Hemmings”, “Calum Hood”, “Ashton Irwin”, or “Michael Clifford”, you’re definitely missing out. 5 Seconds of Summer, also known as “5SOS”, made their tour stop in Indianapolis, IN, and brought their “A game” along with them. With a packed out crowd all the way to the back of TCU Amphitheater at White State River Park, the show was filled with high energy and screaming fans from start to finish.
Opening for 5SOS was “Meet Me at The Altar”, an all-female rock band including lead singer Edith Victoria, bassist Téa Campbell, and drummer Ada Juarez. Performing their known songs such as “T.M.I”, “Say It”, and “Need Me”, and even doing a few covers such as “Burnin’ Up” by the Jonas Brothers, there was never a dull moment and the crowd definitely proved that.
The night continued and 5SOS kicked their set off with “Bad Omens”, a fan favorite from their most recent album, “5SOS5”. The setlist was filled with a little bit of everything from each of their releases which is one of the many reasons why I enjoyed this show so much. Including songs such as “Don’t Stop, “Outer Space/Carry On”, “Want You Back”, “Me, Myself, and I”, and “She Looks So Perfect”, there was something to please everyone. Whether you became a fan a month ago or 10 years ago, this show was the place for anyone who wanted to sing and dance all night.
With fun and quirky intermission videos and a giant inflatable red dice that allowed the crowd to pick one of six songs to play, 5SOS never failed to keep their fans happy, laughing, and amused. At one point during the show, bassist Calum Hood stated that after that night, they were not sure when they would be back to see their fans in Indianapolis. But said that if the fans were willing to come back, so would the band. After a night as amazing as this one, I’m sure I’m not the only one already impatiently waiting for their return.

Yung Pinch, from Huntington Beach, California, had the Deluxe Room at Old National Centre filled with excited fans who had been waiting anxiously for this night to come. On Friday, July 21, 2023, doors opened at 7 pm sharp, and fans quickly rushed to the barricade to secure their spots for the thrilling night ahead. Yung Pinch had two openers, “MoonLander” from North Carolina, who did a nostalgic transition of ‘Replay’ by Iyaz, and “RILEY” from Los Angeles, California, who face-timed his wife and daughter mid-performance. Following them, Pinch had his DJ Gloupjake, known for his work with Lyrical Lemonade, play a few songs for the crowd. All of them did a very good job of getting the crowd hype before the main event.
As Yung Pinch, AKA “Beach Boy” took the stage, the crowd became louder than ever and Pinch brought an immense amount of energy the entire room could feel even in the back of the pit. Performing fan favorites such as “Perfect”, “20 Years Later”, and “Nightmares”, and having a mic stand wrapped from top to bottom in flowers and string lights, the crowd was singing every lyric nonstop, prompting Gloupjake to admit that Indianapolis was probably the best crowd on tour thus far. As a first-time attendee at a Yung Pinch concert, he most definitely exceeded my expectations and I’m very excited to see what he continues to do in the future.
