The week of November 4th had a heavy haze over it as America coped with the results of the 2024 election. Despite most of the city being in a depressed slump, The Met filled in anticipation for the 2nd night of Leon Bridge’s Philly shows. It was exciting seeing Leon’s audience grow with every album cycle and now playing 2 nights in his largest venue to date in Philly. Now touring in support of his 4th studio album, Leon, he has a large catalogue to work off of. The setlist did not disappoint, full of bangers that got the audience dancing and giving us a few hours to forget what else was going on in the world.

The Band Camino started right where they left off. In Spring 2022 the band ended their last tour in Philadelphia, only to kick off the first night of their latest tour back in Philly, but in a much bigger venue. The Band Camino kicked off their Screaming in The Dark Tour on September 14th. The very minimal stage design (embracing the darkness theme) gave me a throwback to when I used to go to glow-in-the-dark bowling in high school, adorned with backlights and glow paint, it was certainly something different…
This tour is in support of the band’s second studio album, The Dark. Another addition to TBC’s vast catalog of bops, a big step up from the first time we saw the band at Milkboy in 2019 where there were barely enough songs released to cover a whole hour set. Fans might be taken aback at first to notice neither Jeff nor Spencer has their signature keyboards on stage at the beginning of the set, but have no fear, the keyboards make their reappearance. About mid-set, the keyboard makes its appearance for an acoustic duo set from Jeff and Spencer that the screaming fan girls behind me claimed gave “major Eras vibes”.
The show was opened by the amazing Charlotte Sands and Bad Suns.

Saturday night we were graced with the presence of LA enchantress, Empress Of, opening for the iconic Carly Rae Jepsen. The room was full of anticipation for the captivating performance and enjoyed every moment of Empress Of.

Not enough people seem to talk about the longevity of Bastille. Here we are four albums later since the debut release of Bad Blood where it all started (not to mention all of the amazing mixtapes as well). Something you can say about each of the Bastille albums is each have solid bops on each and every one.
Bastille returned to The Met in Philly for the release tour of their latest album, Give Me The Future. If you’ve been following Bastille since 2013 like I have, you’ll still be happy to know the live shows are still just as special as they were in the beginning, just a lot bigger. There is still an element of mild unsettling dystopia, a little big of goofiness, and (despite COVID) everyone’s favorite part where Dan joins the crowd for a walk around during a song. If you are an OG-Fan you also might be mildly disappointed that the day has finally come that old classics like “Bad Blood” and “Flaws” have been cut from the setlist.
