almost monday kicked off things at Philly’s Wells Fargo Center on Thursday, July 25th, opening for AJR. Their sunny Cali-infused music was a great setting for the balmy Summer day. As the stadium filled up, the crowd welcomed the pop hits with dancing, singing, and a classic moody lighting of the phone for a sad song.
The 4-piece is no stranger to Philly, but playing their largest venue this time. Needless to say, their music was made for a setting like this, with a large stage to encapsulate all of frontman Dawson Daugherty’s captivating moves. It’s always a special time catching an almost monday show, side effects include instant happiness.

I’ve had the pleasure of watching Jake Wesley Rogers grow into the blooming superstar he is today. Several years ago I was able to catch him playing at stripped down living room shows, touring in his car with just him and his keyboard. You could tell then the special quality Jake had with his in-depth songwriting and enthusiastic stage presence. It’s so exciting to see the world finally getting a taste of JWR.
We caught him on the highest stage I’ve encountered (it was close to 7 ft tall making it near impossible for anyone in the front to see anything on stage), opening for Panic at the Disco. Such a dream line up to see Jake share the stage with, and what a way to open the show! We wouldn’t expect anything less than for Jake to take the stage in a full red sparkly outfit, Wizard of Oz red boots included. You can tell he will be an icon we all need.

My Chemical Romance are indeed back, alive, and well. The energy was building amongst the eager fans as Wells Fargo Center filled up on Monday night for the long-awaited return of the Jersey boys to Philly. Gerard recounted their first ever Philly show (booked by Santigold) at The Fire when they were billed as The Chemical Brothers. If you’re from here, you know how much of an accomplishment it is to go from one of the smallest venues in the city to now headlining the largest “venue” in the city.
If you’re an avid fan you’ll have noticed on this tour that a rare occurrence is happening at each show, the setlist entirely changes. This really gives all fans a new element of surprise of which gems from the MCR catalog are coming next. The Philly setlist included:

Queen Kacey made her triumphant appearance in Philadelphia this past week at Wells Fargo Center, the fifth stop on her Star-Crossed Tour. Bringing along with her a stellar opening line-up including MUNA (yes they played ‘Silk Chiffon’, duh) and King Princess.
Kacey donned an amazing all-white jumpsuit, scattered with a tiny sword pattern. Just like the rest of her wardrobe on tour, it was nothing short of amazing. Oh, and of course, she was barefoot. The set included a great heart-shaped production, including little cute surprises along with the way like pink confetti for ‘Cherry Blossom’, and a money gun for ‘Breadwinner’, just to name a few. However, there seems to be a fail on the giant fire heart during ‘Star-Crossed’, which seemed to be a letdown for some. But the excitement of the rest of the show easily made that a forgettable issue.
The set consisted of songs that would appeal to old and new Kacey fans alike. Starting off with the first five tracks from Star-Crossed, then a nice selection of the hits from Golden Hour, with not a lot of looking back to releases before then. Another fan highlight was the cover song toward the end, where Kacey covered Dolly Parton’s iconic hit, ‘9 to 5’. Overall, a great night, filled with many flashy cowboy hats.
